Solo Travellers Name the USA and the UAE as the Best Destinations Worldwide for Last Minute Christmas Shopping Breaks

The USA and the UAE have been named the top destinations for solo travellers looking for a partner to join them for some retail therapy over the Christmas period, according to the leading global travel dating website and app tourbar.com, which is headquartered in the UK.

Some 17% of solo female travellers named the USA as the top destination they were heading to alone this December for a last-minute shopping break. Meanwhile, TourBar's male members named the UAE (22%) as the leading destination they were planning trips to over the festive month with shopping trips as the main reason behind their travels.

The charms of Italy (14%) and the draw of winter sun in the UAE (14%) proved to be the joint second most popular shopping destinations for TourBar's female members. When it comes to TourBar's male members, Turkey's eclectic mix of 'East-Meets-West' retail offering and Italy's luxury fashion scene proved popular and secured the second and third positions with 18% and 17% respectively.

By using TourBar, members can register their upcoming retail therapy plans in the hope of meeting a fellow solo traveller with the same interests in mind.

Shopping breaks were significantly most popular for TourBar's 25-34-year-old female members (55%), followed closely by those aged 18-24 (25%).  A similar pattern emerged for TourBar's male members as the recent data reveals that those aged 25-34 were by far the most likely to choose shopping breaks as the reason they were travelling alone in December (56%). This age group was followed by those males aged 45-54 (17%).
