Smooth Sailing Ahead for Yachting Fans at La Manga Club

La Manga Club

La Manga Club is renowned for its wide and diverse range of sports and is offering visitors the exclusive chance to enjoy some of the finest cruiser sailing in the Mediterranean by competing in one of Spain's biggest regattas.

As part of its sponsorship of the Cartegena-Portmán regatta – the second largest in Spain – the luxury resort is inviting both experienced and novice sailors to compete in the prestigious Silver Carbide Trophy – with three-night crew member packages available from €270 per person (approx £223).

Taking place from May 31 to June 1, the event attracted a fleet of 78 boats and more than 700 participants when it was held last year, with the regatta renowned for its festive atmosphere, live music and traditional Spanish cuisine, including a giant paella at the closing ceremony.

Budding seafarers can choose from a wide selection of amateur and professional packages, with bed-and-breakfast accommodation provided in either La Manga Club's five-star Hotel Principe Felipe or four-star self-catering apartments in Las Lomas Village.

Prices for the breaks for novice sailors start from €270 (approx £223) per person, based on two people sharing a room, which includes daily sailing tuition, a fully qualified English speaking skipper and a picnic lunch to take on board each day.

More experienced yachtsmen and women can opt for the professional package and join a qualified skipper on board a competitive 10-man spinnaker boat for the weekend, with breaks starting from €640 (approx £529) for two people.

And, in addition, guests can also enjoy a selection of La Manga Club's other five-star facilities including a choice of a round of golf on any of the award-winning venue's three championship courses or a 30-minute spa treatment during their stay.

Set in an area three times the size of Monaco, La Manga Club is widely regarded as Spain's flagship resort and, as well as being the official overseas training base of the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), recent accolades include being voted best golf hotel in Spain by readers of Today's Golfer magazine for the third year running.

The resort boasts unrivalled facilities as a sport and leisure venue including three 18-hole championship golf courses, a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses, and more than 20 bars and restaurants.
