Sky's the Limit for La Manga Club With New Elite Training System

La Manga Club

The eyes of the sporting world will be on Rio de Janeiro when it hosts the Olympic Games this summer, and Spain's La Manga Club is offering guests the exclusive chance to train like an Olympian after opening a new state-of-the-art high-altitude training facility.

Installed in the forward-thinking resort's High Performance Sports Centre, the new iAltitude system – created by a team of Spanish professionals – simulates the effects of training at heights of up to 7,000 metres, leading to improved athletic performance.

Helping to increase lung capacity, resilience and tolerance to tiredness, the system is used by athletes, footballers and mountaineers at the highest level as well as pilots and astronauts – with the likes of double Olympic champion Mo Farah among the leading advocates for high-altitude training.

And it's not only sportsmen and women that can benefit from the new technology at La Manga Club, with the device also medically found to improve people's all-round health with positive effects on stress tolerance, quality of sleep, the immune system and conditions such as asthma.

The installation of the new system is a further illustration of La Manga Club's commitment to innovation and promoting the latest sports science techniques, enhancing its reputation among the world's elite sports and leisure destinations.

The multi award-winning venue, in Murcia, south-east Spain, boasts an extensive array of five-star facilities including its High Performance Sports Centre, which provides athletes of all abilities with the most advanced technology possible to study all aspects of their health and training programmes.

The only place in Spain to offer such a programme, the state-of-the-art facility is available to both professionals and amateurs and has been created to investigate, assess, monitor and advise high-level athletes and the general public about sports performance, health, injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Widely regarded as Spain's flagship resort, La Manga Club has been Europe's leading sports and leisure destination for more than four decades and continues to set the pace across the continent, with the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) and Tennis Europe among its long-term partners.

As well as including three 18-hole golf courses and a Leadbetter Golf Academy – the only one in mainland Spain - the resort features a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses and more than 20 bars and restaurants.
