Singapore, 7 November 2016 – Sharpen your knives, carve your axes and get ready as SKIRT will be the first restaurant on the sunny island to dry age a Tomahawk steak for 30 days with Jack Daniel's Single Barrel. Available every Tuesday from December onwards, enthusiasts will get be able to get their hands on what's known to be the ultimate steak.
Named so because it resembles the Tomahawk axe once used by the native American Indians, the Tomahawk steak is an on-the bone rib steak, cut from the fore-rib with the entire rib bone left on. The long bone is French-trimmed to perfect presentation and is a great dinner table conversation starter.
A Tomahawk makes an ideal sharing steak for a special occasion or romantic meal, easily feeding two people. The dry aging process allows it to develop the most flavour imparting all the subtleties of the Jack Daniel's Single Barrel. During this time, some truly amazing things happen – water from inside the meat is drawn out through the evaporation process which causes the meat to shrink and the beef flavours to become concentrated with subtle notes of caramel and spice, bright fruit notes and sweet aromatics from the Tennessee Whiskey.
While it is possible to oven roast the meat, the best method of preparation for a Tomahawk steak is arguably to grill it on a barbecue. This is one of the reasons why SKIRT would be the best place to have it at as it will be cooked on a parrilla grill. The restaurant uses prime Mesquite wood-fire to bring out the flavour of the meat, creating an ultimate gastronomic enjoyment.
The colossal cuts are served with watercress, tomato on wines and confit garlic garnish and diners are able to complete their meal with two Jack Daniel's cocktails - including an Old Fashion, Whiskey Sling, Jack & Ginger, Manhattan, Jack's Cranberry or Whiskey Sour for SGD29++.
