Snow is flying in the Rockies.  Jasper's Marmot Basin, celebrating its 50th birthday opens November 8 and Banff follows on November 11. Prices for a four star hotel in Banff start at £865 for a week in early December. There is a winter storm alert for Colorado for this weekend; Breck is due to open November 8; a week at the ski-in/out Beaver Run will cost £1099. 

Thinking ahead to Easter which is really late (April 20th, 2014), it is worth noting that both Banff and Whistler will be open until the end of April whilst the American resorts such as Breck and Aspen will be open until the 20th and Kirkwood the 27th!

Vail has some wonderful offers which run through until 15th November.  Guests can save up to £3000 staying for 14 nights at the Lodge in Vail and get a free breakfast! It is worth remembering that buying a Vail EPIC pass allows guests 5 days skiing at Arlberg, Verbier and Les 3 Vallees.
