Ski News From Quebec

Destination Quebec

The Quebec resorts of Tremblant and Le Massif have both had huge snow dumps in the last few days! Tremblant will open earlier now, on 20 November for the winter season.

Early opening! Ski in Quebec from 20 November at Tremblant, regularly voted North America's number one ski resort of the east (www.tremblant.com) - this year it opens early on 20 November.

Skiing with children? The Tremblant Ski School's new service is a GPS system for each child to ensure they don't get lost AND so they can show their friends and family where they skied at the end of the day.

Le Massif (www.lemassif.com) is at the heart of a huge programme of some 120m investment, and this year skiing starts from the beginning of December. This resort, uniquely built from the banks of the massive St Lawrence River, is part owned by Daniel Gauthier who established the Cirque du Soleil. So the investment programme will be creative! For example they are refurbishing an old disused rail line to launch a train service between Quebec City and Le Massif which will have carriages that stay overnight at the resort for those wishing to sleep over on the train and ski. The investment will include a new eco hotel at the mountain (2011-2013) and 30% more ski runs (2012-2013). This year for the first time a daily shuttle bus will run between Quebec City and Le Massif taking skiers out and back for a day's skiing from 26 December.

Mont Sainte Anne and Stoneham half an hour from Quebec City, have combined forces to offer a dual mountain lift pass for around 30 a day. They offer 98 runs between them, set on 2960 acres with spectacular views of the region. www.mont-sainte-anne.com www.ski-stoneham.com
