Sweden, 17 May 2016: Simply Sweden (01427 700115; www.simplysweden.co.uk), the Scandinavian travel specialist, is offering the chance to get active in the Swedish mountains on a new self-catering holiday for 2016.
Kall Jämtland promises an invigorating week of hiking, fishing, kayaking, climbing, paragliding, horse-riding and more in the shadow of Mount Åreskutan, the highest peak in the region. Nearby attractions also include Tännforsen, Sweden's largest waterfall, and the thrills of the Rypetoppen Adventure Park.
The holiday is based close to the Norwegian border in a large detached house with mountain views. Sleeping up to eight, the property has a fully equipped kitchen and large outdoor terrace.
From £690 per person per week, based on eight sharing for seven nights, including return flights from the UK to Trondheim or Åre and car hire. Available year round, the summer season is June to mid-August.
Other new summer holidays include:
Self-Catering in Swedish Lapland
Unearthing evidence of Stone Age man with the help of a Sami archaeologist, deep in an Arctic forest, is just one of the exciting activities available on Self-Catering in Swedish Lapland. Based at Årrenjarka, a 19th-century homestead on an historic migration route for the Sami and their reindeer herds, the holiday's other excursions include forest and beach walks with husky sled dogs, helicopter sightseeing flights, and boat tours of the river delta. Guests stay in spacious log cabins on the banks of Lake Saggat, with terraces looking out over the water, saunas, fully equipped kitchens and lounges with open fires.
From £835 per person, based on six sharing a three-bedroom cabin on a self-catering basis for seven nights, including return flights to Luleå via Stockholm and car rental. Available 15 June to 27 September 2016.
Malangen Fjord
The sun never sets in summer on the self-catering break Malangen Fjord, deep in the Arctic Circle. This seven-night escapade under the Midnight Sun is filled with nature-based activities, from fishing for halibut to mountain biking, as well as the more relaxing diversions of the sauna and hot tub. Guests stay in comfortable, well-equipped three-bedroom cabins set at the water's edge, with balconies and terraces offering spectacular views of the fjord.
From £895 per person, based on four sharing a cabin on a self-catering basis, including return flights from the UK to Tromsø via Oslo, car rental, and seven nights' self-catering. Available year round, summer season is May to September.
Lofoten Islands Self-Catering
Lofoten Islands Self-Catering is a journey under the Midnight Sun to explore the history, culture and nature of this remote Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Circle. Guests journey through the southern islands, in the shadow of mighty snow-capped mountains, and skirting the banks of still, deep fjords, to arrive in the capital, Svolvaer. The seven nights are spent in traditional fishermen's cabins, rorbuers, right on the water's edge. Fishing, Sami culture and Viking history play an important part in everyday life here, where fish drying on traditional racks is a common sight. Long, light days leave plenty of time to take part in some inspiring excursions, including boat safaris to spot sea eagles, mountain hikes and sea kayaking.
From £990 per person, based on a family of four sharing for seven nights on a self-catering basis, including return flights from the UK and car rental. Available year round, summer season is May to September.

Simply Sweden began selling holidays in 2006 and has become one of the UK's leading tailor-made tour operators to Scandinavia; in 2016, it added the Faroe Islands, in the Kingdom of Denmark, to its range of destinations. The company, founded by Chris and Karin Graham, draws on the inside knowledge of its small Sweden-based team, gained from travelling extensively across the territories, to create itineraries that offer customers the best experiences and deliver a genuine insight into the Scandinavian way of life.
