Silence Is Golden

The Italian Connection

This place is the epitomy of peace and tranquility and if you need to get away this is the perfect destination. Calling you all to stop what you are doing and to listen……. listen carefully to the silence. Do you know what that sounds like? We invite you to get away from it all and experience something completely unique.

“No TV, no phone, no mini-bar, no air-con. Go to bed when it's dark, wake up at dawn with Candlelight only after sunset. Phones to be used outside only. This is also the first hotel in Italy with only single rooms -- so not the place for romance. It still feels like the monastery it once was -- the monk's cells have been converted into rooms -- except now there's a spa, and great Umbrian food instead of bread and water. There are even Gregorian chants listening to them makes lying in the heated rock pool all the more relaxing. During the day, there's little to do except explore the surrounding 3,000 hectares of national reserve. Or practice doing nothing”

This is an ideal place to sit and relax or to practice yoga or simply meditate. The property has been built from scratch with thousands of stones, almost each one sculpted to fit precisely into the structure, following the ancient art of Italian masonry of the 13th Century. It has taken four years of continuous hard work to accomplish what the owner set out to do and now the structure exists. It embodies modern technology together with materials, shapes and forms of ancient and rare beauty. The property stands on a hill surrounded by 3000 hectares of natural reserve. In this majestic isolation between the sky and the hills its silence is often just "disturbed" by the sound of the wind... This is a special place where one can unwind and regenerate one's body and spirit.

Here you will find….

-          Dramatic and panoramic scenery

-          Wellness area with a small heated water pool dug out from the rock and a steam room entirely made of stone

-          Garden where the property grows its own vegetables

-          Menu here is vegetarian and it is a fixed menu and many of the recipes are chosen from ancient Mediterranean monastic traditions, when monks were self-sufficient with their gardens and fields.

-          In the summer meals are served al fresco in the garden which overlooks the green valley while in the winter all meals are offered in the refectory with a log fireplace.

-          Classified by the Independent as one of the top five eco-resorts in the world

What are you waiting for!
