Gran Canaria's premier golfing destination has laid the foundations for a record-breaking 2014 after enjoying its best-ever start to a year.

Golfers from all over Europe flocked to the five-star Sheraton Salobre Golf Resort & Spa this winter, with the luxury venue reporting a 35 per cent increase in players staying in its hotel and 15 per cent more golfers using the resort on the corresponding period 12 months ago.

The only 36-hole golf complex in the Canary Islands, Sheraton Salobre boasts outstanding facilities on and off the course with its first-class practice area and new club-fitting and performance centre complementing its two championship courses.

In contrast, the resort's North Course (also known as the New Course) - designed by architect Ron Kirby - takes its inspiration from the desert courses in America and provides a new challenge as it winds its way through and around the unique volcanic rock environment.
