Visit Cornwall has launched an exciting new social media campaign for Summer 2013 encouraging visitors and locals alike to share their memories of Cornwall and be in with the chance of winning money can't buy prizes.
Photos, films and tweets of memories as they are made over the summer, as well as existing ones, are invited via Instagram, YouTube and Twitter, and the best memory snapshots will be showcased in a unique visually stunning online scrapbook at http://memories.visitcornwall.com/.
Fans of Cornwall can vote for their favourite memories on the site and every three months top prizes will go to the contributors of the photos, films and tweets that get the most 'Loves'. An unforgettable overnight stay in a Biome at the Eden Project as well as the chance to have a photo turned into a postcard and sold at Mountain Warehouse stores across the South West, are among the first prizes up for grabs.
Lauren Hogan, the Visit Cornwall Digital Marketing Manager, explains: "This campaign is about creating a space for people to share their own personal experiences of Cornwall on a site that isn't part of an "official tourist board website" or part of a glossy advertising and marketing campaign but showcases genuine personal experiences celebrating Cornwall."
As well as contributing to the exciting prizes, the outdoor clothing and equipment retailer, Mountain Warehouse, is supporting the campaign by promoting it in-store. Ed Whatmore, Online Marketing Manager, adds: "Our customers love Cornwall for its amazing outdoor lifestyle and stunning natural environment so we are thrilled to be encouraging people to share their memories of this fantastic county. I am sure there are some wonderful photos showcasing treasured memories of Cornwall and that many more will be taken this summer, I look forward to seeing the top one being transformed into a postcard and sold in our stores."
Contributors will also have the chance to feature in a short 3 minute showreel which will be made up of Visit Cornwall's favourite photos, tweets and video clips from the campaign and showcased on the Visit Cornwall website and YouTube channel later in the year.
Both existing memories and those from this year's 2013 holiday are welcome, and photos, films and thoughts can be shared until September 2014 by:
- hashtagging your photo on Instagram with #lovecornwall
- hashtagging your tweets on Twitter with #lovecornwall
- uploading your film on YouTube via a link on http://memories.visitcornwall.com/

About the Memories are Made in Cornwall / Kids Love Cornwall campaign
• This social media campaign launched on 22 July and will run until September 2014.
• The new micro-site was built by Cornwall agency Gendall and the strapline and creative for Memories are Made in Cornwall was developed by Cornwall agency Nixon.
• "Kids love Cornwall / Memories are made in Cornwall" aims to grow the pre-school market for the shoulder periods and ensure Cornwall sustains, reinforce and develop the current core offer continuing to spread the word that the word that Cornwall is the leading family destination in the UK.
• "Kids love Cornwall / Memories are made in Cornwall" is one of three campaigns that have been launched as part of a three-year investment project called 'Growing Tourism Locally'
• The project has been funded by £400,000 from the Government's Regional Growth Fund (RGF) and is led by the national tourist board, VisitEngland
• Contributions to the campaign have also been made by the private sector
