Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London Opens Reservation Lines on 17 March 2014

Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London

On Monday, 17 March 2014, Shangri-La Hotel, At The Shard, London, will open its reservation lines for Tīng - the signature restaurant and lounge on level 35 - for bookings from 6 May 2014, the day the hotel opens.  Láng, its patisserie and artisan deli on the ground floor will also open to the public on 6 May 2014 and will not need prior reservation.  Gŏng, London's highest champagne and cocktail bar on level 52, will open in July.

Tīng, named after the Chinese word for 'living room', is the collective name for the restaurant and lounge on level 35.  Situated 128 metres above ground level, the vibrant space will showcase sweeping 360-degree views across the capital.

The restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and present a modern European menu with a hint of Asian flavouring created using the finest local market and regionally sourced produce.  Signature dishes will include hand-dived scallops from the north-west Highland coast cooked a la plancha and served with carrot, ginger and a light yuzu and grape seed oil dressing and organic Welsh lamb from Rhug Estate, glazed with mirin, sake and soy sauce served with root vegetables and Kentish apples.

The lounge will offer a distinctive à la carte menu of authentic Shangri-La Asian specialties, including curry laksa, Hainan chicken rice and char koay teow.  Served in theatrical elegance, the city's afternoon tea will be taken to a new level with two unique offerings - a classically English experience and an Asian-inspired alternative, both complemented by an exclusive selection of over 30 teas. www.ting-shangri-la.com

Láng Derived from the Chinese word for 'pathway', Láng is the patisserie and artisan deli located at ground level specialising in signature Shangri‑La cakes, macaroons, chocolates, pastries, classic savouries, salads and sandwiches to eat-in or take-away.  Seasonal hampers will also be available for purchase.  Ideal for morning coffee, a quick lunch or an afternoon treat, Láng will offer diners a range of delectable indulgences, such as Chocolate Temptation - a rich chocolate sponge, red fruit tea-infused Ghanaian chocolate ganache and raspberry compote topped with a soft chocolate cream.

Gŏng Located on level 52 and with unrivalled views across London's skyline, Gŏng - named after the interlocking wooden brackets commonly used in traditional Chinese architecture and featured throughout the sky-high venue - will include a cocktail bar, champagne bar and a stunning infinity pool.  The perfect destination for sunset cocktails and late-night drinks, guests will be able to sip on the bar's signature cocktail 'The Big Smoke' - Dodd's Gin, Grand Marnier, Tio Pepe, Mancino Rosso Amaranto and orange bitters - or select from other skilfully created seasonal drinks made using locally sourced spirits.  Champagne aficionados may delight in exceptional champagne available by the glass from rare small grower varieties to the ultimate Grandes Marques. www.gong-shangri-la.com

Overseeing all three venues is Executive Chef Emil Minev, formerly of Shangri-La properties in Tokyo and the Maldives.  With almost 25 years of culinary expertise, prior to working with Shangri-La, Chef Minev was with Jumeirah Emirates Towers, Dubai and some of the capital's finest luxury hotels, including The Ritz.
