SEDONA, Ariz. (May 29, 2015)––Select judges from across the United States gathered in Phoenix to judge various elements of advertising in the Phoenix market, specifically items from the AAF Phoenix Chapter. “Sedona Skies,” a song written and provided for the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau's destination marketing material, was given the industry's highest honor, a GOLD ADDY, for best song with music and lyrics. The awards were given during the 2015 ADDY Award ceremony, held Saturday, March 21.
According to the AAF Phoenix Chapter, selection of the most creative entry in each category is affected by a scoring process, in which a panel of national judges evaluates all creative dimensions of every entry. A GOLD ADDY is recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and is judged to be superior to all other entries in the category. Entries that are also considered outstanding and worthy of recognition receive a SILVER ADDY. The number of awards given in each category is determined by the judges, based on the relative quality of work in that category.
“Sedona Skies” was made possible by the amazing talent of performers, editors and recorders who compiled the final song. “Sedona Skies” singer Brittanny Bickman was born and raised in Phoenix and started playing music and singing at the age of 14. Bickman attended school at Northwest Christian School, a private school in Phoenix, and was a member of the chorale choir that won the West Valley Junior Excellence Award from Arizona State University in the area of the Arts.
The song was created in coordination with the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau's agency of record, Owens Harkey Advertising. Owens Harkey uses classic advertising and public relations strategies, combined with digital and social media tactics to achieve all clients' brand goals and aspirations.
“People resonate with this song. It is authentic and engaging. It pulls at your emotions, just like Sedona does,” Jennifer Wesselhoff, President/CEO of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau, said. “We are overjoyed to share the final product and are very grateful to all the judges from the ADDY Awards who regarded our city's song as highly as we do.”
