Scotland Beyond the Bagpipes by Helen Ochyra Nominated for National Geographic Award

Travel Begins at 40
Scotland Beyond the Bagpipes by BGTW member Helen Ochyra has been nominated in the National Geographic Traveller Reader Awards 2021.

The Reader Awards celebrate the best places, hotels, operators, authors, podcasts and more. This year, the sixth annual awards look back at a year like no other and celebrate the destinations, experiences and publications that kept our spirits up — virtually or otherwise — and had us itching to travel again.

Helen says:"When I released my first book, Scotland Beyond the Bagpipes, heart in mouth, I couldn't wait to get out on the road and promote it. Unfortunately, it published in March 2020, the very week that lockdown was announced in the UK. There could hardly have been a worse time to release a travel book!

"Although I've been unable to have a book launch, promote the book in person, or even see it in an actual bricks and mortar book shop, I have had so much positive feedback from readers that has made me smile. People have booked trips to Scotland having been inspired by my book and now, to my delight, Scotland Beyond the Bagpipes has been nominated for a National Geographic Readers Award. That this award is voted for by readers makes it all the more special, and I am blown away by the level of support from readers. But every vote counts, so please consider voting for me!"
