Cox & Kings tips Iceland as the hot destination for 2009 and offers discounts on group tour and Reykjavik city breaks.
As Iceland comes to terms with its new economic realities, the countrys travel industry is slashing prices to encourage the tourist pound back in. The worlds longest established travel company, Cox & Kings, is offering significant reductions on Iceland for 2009, including a three-night city break at the Hotel Frn in Reykjavik from just 350 per person.
Cox & Kings Europe Product Manager Michael Fleetwood says: 2009 is definitely going to be Icelands year for tourism. Prices are falling dramatically typically, our short city breaks during the peak summer season have been around 700-800 per person. For summer 2009, we have breaks for just 395. Iceland has so much to offer visitors, with stunning natural landscapes and some wonderful museums and galleries, and the latest economic downturn will open up the destination to those previously put off by costs.
Cox & Kings offers tailor-made travel to Reykjavik and throughout Iceland. A three-night stay at the Hotel Frn costs from just 350 per person including flights with Icelandair, flybus transfers and accommodation with breakfast. Hotel Frn is a modern hotel situated on Reykjaviks main shopping street, Laugavegur, in the heart of the city. Offering attractive accommodation and friendly service, the hotel makes an ideal base from which to explore this compact city.
The company is also offering a discount of up to 185 per person on its Natural Wonders of Southern Iceland group tour, departing on January 2009.
Natural Wonders of Southern Iceland is a six-night group tour that takes in the islands southern highlights, combining its spectacular natural wonders with its most important historic sites and museums. The tour costs 1,465 per person on departures throughout 2009 (saving up to 185 pp), including flights with Icelandair, accommodation with breakfast, three dinners, flybus transfers and all excursions.
