(Macao, Nov. 9, 2014) – UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham returned to Macao this past weekend to meet with Sands China staff and attend a football clinic with 40 local youths.

At the Four Seasons Hotel Macao Nov. 8, Beckham shared the secrets of his success, including his life after football as an entrepreneur, how he coaches people and the major differences between being a player and a businessman, with around 100 Sands China managerial-level employees, including the top 20 “Because We Know” Sands China product knowledge competition winners and the winners of “Because We Care Best Leadership” team member awards. Beckham presented the winners with award certificates and autographed books. Three lucky managers picked up tips from Beckham as they asked him questions regarding his managerial style. This event was part of Sands China's commitment to giving team members opportunities to advance their careers through interacting with and learning from people in the business world.

Also during his visit, the Sands China Community Academy, with support from the Macau Football Association, organised an event at The Venetian Macao's Cotai Arena Nov. 9, where Beckham attended a football clinic with 40 local youths from the Macao U15 and U17 football teams. The young athletes were clearly excited to meet and interact with such a global superstar. After observing a friendly match between the two teams, Beckham provided valuable feedback to the young players, giving them an opportunity to interact with the popular role model. Beckham then chose one player from each team to receive an award based on their performances. The youths also took group photos with the former England and Manchester United player. 

The Sands China Community Academy frequently hosts community outreach activities, like Sunday's football clinic, as part of its ongoing commitment to service in Macao, by utilising Sands China's superstar events, which often feature some of Asia's and the world's biggest names from music, sport and screen. Sands China Community Academy events are a way for the company to give back to the Macao community by providing opportunities for locals to interact with incredibly talented and accomplished individuals, offering them inspirational and educational experiences.

Beckham made his debut appearance at The Venetian® Macao last November to announce a business partnership in Asia with Las Vegas Sands Corp., the parent company of Sands China Ltd. He returned in April this year to share his football stories and experiences with around 100 local students.
