Salt & Pepe Roadshow

Pepe Saya

Pierre Issa of Pepe Saya Butter and Alexandra Olsson of Olsson's Sea Salt are taking their show on the road with 'Salt and Pepe Roadshow'. In conjunction with John Fairley from Country Valley Dairy these three passionate producers will be in Orange for a series of events over 13-14 December 2013.

Salt and Pepe Roadshow is a celebration of salt and dairy joining together as Pepe Saya Butter. The first Olsson's Salt Block was pressed near Parramatta in 1949 because graziers were crying out for a supplementary source of nutrients for their stock during the severe drought in the middle of last century . Animals lick the salt block and absorb its nutrients and minerals making them happier and healthier.

Someone who knows about happy healthy animals is John Fairley from Country Valley Dairy. John's cows have been called 'pampered' but that's ok with him because his pampered cows have the best tasting milk around. They spend their lives eating, mooing contentedly, licking Olsson's salt blocks and producing spectacular milk.

And that's where Pepe Saya comes in. When Pepe found out that the cows whose milk he was using had been licking Olsson's salt blocks he decided to bring it full circle and use Olsson's Sea Salt in his butter too. And so when you bite into some creamy Pepe Saya Cultured Butter, you are tasting deliciousness which began long before the churning process and before the milk was bottled; you are tasting the salty pleasures of the pasture and everything in-between.

Salt and Pepe Roadshow is celebrating Olsson's Sea Salt & Pepe Saya Butter in Orange on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 December 2013.

- On Friday 13 Lucas Martin, owner of both Barefoot Health Food and The Agrarians farm and cafe in Orange is hosting a producers dinner focusing on fresh local fare.
