This Spring The Rib Room Bar & Restaurant will be flying the flag for Anglo-Irish relations, celebrating St Patrick and St George with specially created four-course tasting menus from England and the Emerald Isle.
St Patrick's Day
Guests can indulge in a cornucopia of Celtic cuisine as head chef Ian Rudge gives a modern twist to an array of classic Irish specialties from the heartland of Hibernia. This dinner offer is available on 17 March for £55 per person. Starting with a witty take on 'crubeens', or pigs trotters, diners can enjoy a beautiful starter incorporating black pudding, apple caramel and chicory salad, closely followed by a delicate fish course of roasted scallop served with cauliflower purée and pearl barley.
A hearty main of Irish stew, served with mutton cutlets, champ, baby root vegetables and a heady mutton jus provides a modern twist on Ireland's national dish, before guests enjoy the 'craic' - with a deliciously decadent 'Gaelic Coffee', made from white coffee cream, black coffee granite and whisky foam.
St George's Day
A short trip across the Irish Sea and St George takes center stage on the 23 April with a four-course £55 per person feast for patriotic Anglophiles filled with Saxon specialties. Sourced from the farthest reaches of England's green and pleasant land, a starter of pressed rabbit with Somerset cider jelly, tangy piccalilli dressing and dandelion are followed by a luxurious reworking of 'scampi and chips' – featuring roasted langoustine tail, hand cut-chips, deep fried pickled onion tartar and pea puree.
A chargrilled beef rib-eye main is accompanied by beer braised oxtail, watercress and wild mushrooms, is closely followed by the sweet taste of the English countryside encapsulated by a Yorkshire rhubarb and raspberry Bakewell tart served with a velvety custard ice cream.
