Having launched one of the largest conference and event centres in the Sydney CBD earlier this year, Rydges World Square were delighted to be awarded Tourism Accommodation Australia's (TAA) prestigious Conference Venue of the Year award. The announcement of the win took place at the TAA (NSW) Awards for Excellence held in Sydney last week.
Rydges World Square's newly renovated 600sqm venue space boasts facilities twice the size of the Hotel's previous conference area with the ability to cater for up to 500 delegates or seating for 380 guests banquet style.
John McIlwain, General Manager of Rydges World Square attended the event and said "I am very excited and proud of our team for taking out the TAA NSW Conference Venue of the Year Award. It is a fantastic reward for all of the effort our conference and events team have put in since the redevelopment of the conference centre. I would also like to thank Dr Jerry Schwartz and his team for their support in this project and presenting us with a product we can all be proud of."
The development of the hotel's conference facilities is a result of the Schwartz Family Company and Director Dr Jerry Schwartz, and their ongoing efforts to inject capital into their hotel assets, a sign of their confidence in the New South Wales tourism sector. The facility is expecting strong growth in the number of meeting, incentives, conferences and exhibitions held in Sydney city.
The new conference centre provides access to the latest audio visual equipment, sound and lighting, broadband and wireless internet as well as a full catering service with flexible options to suit all businesses and delegates. This full conference service compliments the existing 452 accommodation rooms, Square Bar, Sphere Restaurant and being so centrally located, Rydges World Square is only 15 minutes from Sydney's Domestic Airport by train.
The design also boasts floor to ceiling double glazed windows, increasing the natural light and opening the space up with a contemporary colour scheme. Nick-named the Bull Ring, the room revolves around a glass atrium overlooking World Square where the commanding, mythological bull sculpture resides below. The modernised design provides an inviting space for guests to enjoy the best parts of Sydney.
The Rydges group plans to build on its positive reputation for service and first class facilities while ensuring the property remains at the forefront of current hospitality and industry trends.
The Tourism Accommodation Australia (NSW) Awards for Excellence are recognised as the most prestigious hospitality awards, honouring the achievement of excellence in a wide range of categories in the accommodation industry.
