Construction of The Sebel Melbourne Ringwood hotel began in July 2019 and while the pandemic and lockdowns resulted in a short launch delay, Mr Power says the job creation as a result of the hotel's development has been a welcome positive.

“The obvious benefit of the build has been the job creation, particularly during this time where unemployment in Australia is significantly high. Over the life of the project the construction of the hotel engaged 415 tradespeople and by the time we're fully operational we'll create an additional 40 ongoing jobs in the hotel.  We've started the hiring process and it's great to see the wealth of talent from Melbourne's eastern suburbs, which is where our first cohort of employees have come from. 

“Ringwood is becoming an increasingly important commercial corridor and we anticipate that the addition of a premium level of contemporary accommodation will increase demand into the area which will have tremendous flow on effects for other local businesses.
