Fed up of sitting in front of the TV watching Big Ben strike midnight at the turn of the New Year? Why not make 2016 one to remember and see it in in true Swedish style? Taber Holidays are offering a delightful snowbound wilderness retreat in the heart of Swedish Lapland – perfect for the family to welcome in the New Year together.
Based on an island in the Lulea archipelago, this brand new four-night break departs on Tuesday 29th December with guests staying at the beautiful Brandön Lodge, overlooking the frozen sea. It features a host of outdoor activities including dog sledding, snowshoeing, an aurora hunt by sled and a Nordic winter skills session where guests will learn how to make a fire in the snow and enjoy a typical outdoor wilderness lunch in a traditional Sami tent.
New Year's Eve starts with a quick lesson on how to drive a snowmobile before an exciting tour through frozen snow-clad forests with stops along the way for tea, coffee and lunch. The evening's celebrations then begin with a special four-course meal at the lodge's restaurant before guests walk out onto the frozen lake to lift a nicely chilled bottle of champagne from a hole in the ice! A spectacular firework display will then illuminate the skies at midnight to ring in 2016.
Following a hearty breakfast the following morning, guests will be transferred to a local husky ranch to become acquainted with their four-legged companions before setting off on an exhilarating dog sled tour. After dinner, the fun continues into the evening with a cosy tour by sled out into the archipelago in search of the magical Northern Lights. Guests will be wrapped up warm in blankets while sitting upon reindeer hides while the sled guides quietly over the frozen tundra pulled by snowmobile.
Prices for the New Year in Swedish Lapland break start from £1,850 per adult, and from £940 per child. This includes flights from London Heathrow to Luleå via Stockholm, transfers, accommodation, most meals and all above-mentioned activities. Based on two adults per booking and a child aged between 6 and 11. Departs Tuesday 29th December 2015.
