Construction of El Gouna’s new water sports complex gets under way
El Gouna, the Red Sea’s premier leisure destination, is preparing to welcome its latest attraction and one of the world’s largest cable water parks – Elgounacable.
Due to open in December 2013, the new Elgounacable water sports complex is supported by Rixen Cableways, the inventor and world market leader in water ski and wake board cableways, and will house the Sliders Cablepark and the Malibu Beach Club. Combining world-class water sports facilities with a new leisure and entertainment venue, the new complex is sure to attract both water sports enthusiasts and leisure-seekers alike.
Within its 90,000m² area, the Sliders Cablepark will feature two cable parks and two ‘Easy Rides’ for water skiers, wake boarders and wake skaters to hone their skills. The cable parks include an Olympic-sized water ski cable with a slalom course and selection of obstacles, as well as a second shorter cable exclusively for wake boarders, who will be able to perfect their jumps on a series of sliders and kickers. The two ‘Easy Rides’ are designed specifically for beginners and youngsters to get to grips with their first forays into the air.
For those wanting to relax or simply watch the sporting action, the Malibu Beach Club will offer two large sun protected terraces, a natural salt-water pool, BeachClub pool and spa area. When the sun has set, the Malibu Beach Club will turn into a superb restaurant and party zone, welcoming DJs from all over Europe and Egypt.
Thanks to El Gouna’s warm climate and guaranteed sunshine, the new complex will be open year-round and also covered by a floodlight system, so riders can stay out on the water in the evenings.
The new complex joins an already extensive list of activities on offer for adrenalin junkies in El Gouna. With spacious beaches, coastal winds and shallow waters, El Gouna attracts droves of kitesurfers to its five kitestations, while the clear waters, reefs and wrecks make it a diver’s paradise. Back on dry-land, there’s plenty of opportunities for holidaymakers to keep active, from golf and tennis to horseback and camel riding.
