Representation Plus Appointed As PR Consultants To The Not Forgotten Association

Representation Plus

Representation Plus, a London based specialist PR consultancy, has been appointed by the charity “The Not Forgotten Association” to help them raise their profile in the UK & Ireland.

The Not Forgotten Association is a unique national tri-service charity which provides entertainment, leisure and recreation for the serving wounded, injured or sick and for ex-service men and women with disabilities through a wide and varied programme of activities including outings, concerts, holidays, events and the provision of televisions and TV licences. Each year they help and support more than 10,000 individuals of all ages, whenever and wherever they served. Events and activities are open to all serving or ex-service men/women in order to offer the support and relief they deserve. To benefit from their support wounded (ex)-service men or women are invited through their specific service associations, welfare officers or other service charities.

Representation Plus's brief is to set up a sustainable, long term and integrated PR function for the Association. The agency aims to capitalise on commemorative events for WW1 and WW2 and to highlight the many activities organised by the association year round from holidays to outings and regional concerts. Representation Plus is honoured to support The Not Forgotten Association which can offer a new lease of life to thousands of wounded (ex)-service men and women every year. They will put the spotlight on the charity's activities to make sure the wounded will not be forgotten as the British troops return from Afghanistan.

Commenting on the appointment, Alison Cryer, Managing Director, Representation Plus said: “We are delighted to help such a worthy cause that I came across for the first time last November and later found out about their needs through the Guild of PR Practitioners” Cryer added “As an Ambassador for the Family Holiday Association I can fully understand the extraordinary difference their activities can make”.

Colonel Piers Storie-Pugh, Chief Executive commented, “Despite being founded in 1920 we are still largely unknown even amongst the armed services and are very excited by the initiatives and strategy proposed by Representation Plus. We anticipate that as a result we will in the future be able to generate positive coverage increasing our awareness amongst beneficiaries, donors and the general public”.

The Not Forgotten Association
In August 1920 Marta Cunningham established The “NOT FORGOTTEN” Association with the object of providing entertainment and recreation for the war wounded to alleviate the tedium of their lives and give them something to which they could look forward. By 1927 some 85,000 people had been entertained outside the hospitals.

In 1926 the Association officially defined its task as being 'to provide comfort, cheer and entertainment for the wounded ex-servicemen still in hospital as a result of the Great War'. As the years went on the Association has adapted to meet changing needs and extended its activities to include those wounded in more recent conflicts. It continues to provide support to approximately 10,000 men and women each year.
