The Forks Market Food Hall is undergoing major renovations, with an updated design aimed to re-define the destination as a current dining and event space. The updated decor and food & beverage offerings means it is attracting a younger Millennial crowd to The Forks. Today a designer steel structure stretches over a trendy craft beer and wine kiosk; new restaurants, such as local favourite NUburger, have moved into the former horse stalls that have acted as food kiosks for over 25 years; and eye-catching wooden harvest tables make it enticing to gather with a large group and enjoy meals family-style. The new food hall showcases high design with relevant food trends. Sharing plates and tapas are gaining popularity in Winnipeg's dining scene and the new food hall is the perfect place to enjoy an appetizer, main course and dessert from different kiosks. The Forks is also one of Winnipeg's most diverse culinary locations, offering multicultural eats from Argentinean empanadas to Caribbean rotis and Ukrainian perogies.
A highlight of the recent renovation is the addition of The Common craft beer and wine kiosk, serving 20 craft beers and wines, available by the glass. The beverage listing is always changing and has selections from Manitoban craft breweries such as Barn Hammer, Fort Garry and Half Pints, alongside other Canadian craft beers and wines
The Forks Market Plaza is a year-round destination that changes with the seasons. – In summer, it features fountains, dance programmes under a canopy, open-air performance areas and restaurant patios to enjoy the ambiance and sunshine. In winter, the plaza transforms into a skating rink with trails that lead throughout the grounds. At no charge, guests can skate to piped music under the canopy and twinkling lights.
The Forks is a vibrant public space in downtown Winnipeg at the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers. It is the city's number one tourist attraction with over four million visitors each year. Locals and tourists alike gather here for celebrations, recreation, and shopping and dining. It encompasses Parks Canada's interpretive park, revitalized historic buildings full of dining and shopping, the Canadian Museum of Human Rights , a skateboard park, historic pier and offers a host of year-round outdoor and indoor activities.
