For sailing enthusiasts who missed Antigua's 2013 Sailing Week Sky Sports is offering one last chance to get in on the action on 14 July on Sky Sports 4. Broadcast from 6am to 7am, this will be the opportunity to experience this incredible regatta and see why Antigua truly is the Sailing Capital of the Caribbean.
Sailing Week is just one week in Antigua's fantastic year-long sailing events' calendar. During the second half of 2013, sailing enthusiasts can select from a series of events including the annual 52nd Antigua Charter Yacht Show. Taking place from 6 to 12 December 2013, the show features some of the world's finest yachts displayed against the scenic backdrops of Nelson's Dockyard Marina in English Harbour, the Falmouth Harbour Marina and the Antigua Yacht Club Marina.
Hoist your sails, with the brand new transatlantic race the Christmas Caribbean Rally, that heads for Antigua. Leaving Lanzarote on 16 December, participants will arrive at the idyllic site of Jolly Harbour at the end of the year. This new and exciting event promises to become a regular date in any sailor's diary.
Nelson's Pursuit is Antigua's final event of the year. Taking place on 31 December 2013, the race commemorates Lord Nelson's famous pursuit of the French fleet across the Atlantic culminating in the blockade of Cadiz and the subsequent battle of Trafalgar, Nelson's greatest victor. This 18-mile course ends mid afternoon with a prize giving and fancy dress party making it a fun event for participants and spectators alike.
