Think! Social Media

Registrations are open and tickets are now selling for Social Media Tourism Symposium Australia (SoMeT) being held in Wollongong, NSW 17 & 18 July 2013. Only 200 tickets are available and tickets are expected to sell out.

SoMeT is the only conference that specifically provides an opportunity for destination marketing organisations, hotels, attractions, and tourism-related entities to learn about the use of social media in the tourism industry.

SoMeT was first hosted in the US in 2009 by destination social media leaders, Think! Social Media who are bringing SoMeT to Australia for the first time.

Australian-born, Rodney Payne, Executive Director of Think! Social Media said that SoMeT is a unique conference in the way that it combines tourism specific workshops, case studies and strategy sessions with presentations by leading international speakers and tourism marketing professionals.

"All of SoMeT's content is directly relevant to tourism marketing through digital marketing and social media. It is the one conference tourism marketing professionals should have on their radar," Mr Payne said.

"This event is designed to share learning and identify strategies that attendees can take back to their tourism organisation and use to increase their effectiveness," Mr Payne said.

The SoMeT team has been working closely with destinations identifying topics and ideas and developing a world-class program for the conference.

Some of the fantastic speakers already announced include:

Emmanuelle Legault, Vice President of Marketing from Tourisme Montréal
To present the learnings and challenges involved with transitioning Tourisme Montreal to 'all-digital' tourism organisation;

Ian Hill, Director of Australian Capital Tourism
To present Tourism Canberra's wildly successful Human Brochure Campaign;

Jesse Desjardins, Tourism Australia's Social Media & Advocacy Manager
Will be sharing his valuable insights on Tourism Australia's social media learnings and strategies including insights from the Best Jobs in the World Campaign.

Tickets for the two day event cost $1095 and can be purchased online at http://au.sometourism.com/registration/.

More speakers, venue and accommodation announcements will be made on the SoMeT website http://au.sometourism.com/ and the corporate Facebook and Twitter fan pages over the next week.
