The online registration to participate in Tenerife's Santa Cruz Marathon is now open. Following three successful events with an ever-increasing number of participants, the fourth edition of the race will see thousands of athletes coming back to the streets of Santa Cruz, Tenerife's capital city, on Sunday 12th November in a fun sporting event for runners of all abilities.
Boasting an enviable coastal and flat course with almost no inclines, the Santa Cruz Marathon is an ideal event for both amateur athletes who want to make a start in the running world and established runners who want to keep challenging themselves. The event features three different racing categories: marathon (42 km), half marathon (21 km) and 8K (8 km). Prices to take part in the race vary from €15 to €42 per person – early bird discounts are available until the end of August.
The flat course is considered one of the best in Spain; no matter what category they choose, all athletes will have the chance to do a “sightseeing” tour while running. The futuristic Tenerife Auditorium Adán Martin, the Market Nuestra Señora de África, the Tenerife Arts Space (TEA) and the García Sanabria Park will be some of the main tourist attractions of Santa Cruz that participants will pass on the course.
Last year's fastest runners were Miguel Ángel Vaquero in the marathon category (02:30:33), José Ignacio Martín in the half marathon (01:13:57) and Ayoze Pérez in the 8K race (00:23:33).
