Rediscover Relaxation, Rediscover Rockingham – that's the latest destination marketing campaign to tempt holiday makers to visit the City of Rockingham and experience its relaxed coastal lifestyle.

Focusing on themes of relaxation and wellness, this latest promotion runs through the April school holidays and is great timing for Perth, Peel and South West residents coming out of COVID lockdown to plan some time to relax in the beautiful Rockingham region.

Mayor Barry Sammels said Rediscover Relaxation, Rediscover Rockingham had been designed around feedback that many visitors regularly return to Rockingham for the laid back coastal lifestyle.

“With a number of new businesses operating in the health and wellness space, the City is becoming known as a place to unwind the body and mind,” Mayor Sammels said.

“Connections with nature, bountiful outdoor fitness opportunities, nourishing food options and a range of alternative wellness practitioners make the Rockingham region the ideal getaway for a weekend of relaxation.”

Working in partnership with Destination Perth and Tourism Rockingham, Rockingham's perfect mix of natural beauty and relaxing pastimes will be promoted as part of a digital advertising campaign across the State.

Three videos and a series of digital display advertisements have been produced to entice people to plan and book an overnight stay in the Rockingham region. The themes explored include:

Nurtured by Nature – make the most of our region's wild encounters; you can swim with the dolphins, kayak with the sea lions, visit Penguin Island, play a round of golf with the kangaroos, and more.

Body and Soul – take time out for yourself and try stand up paddle boarding, yoga, day spa/float therapy, surfing school, a massage on the beach, experience Indigenous tours or just enjoy the feel of the sand between your toes.

Trail Mix – indulge in our eclectic mix of eateries with a beer and wine trail. Nourish your body while Rockingham beaches feed your soul.

The underlying message of the campaign is “all of this is closer than you think”, reminding Western Australians of Rockingham's close proximity to Perth.

Mayor Sammels said Rediscover Relaxation, Rediscover Rockingham would build on the strong brand awareness established over the past year through the Rediscover Adventure and Rediscover Summer Holidays campaigns.

“The continued push to reinforce what makes Rockingham an appealing holiday destination forms part of the City's Tourist Destination Strategy (2019-2024) and has resulted in a 33% increase in domestic day trip visitation in the 2019/2020 financial year,” he said.
