Floral Themed Afternoon Teas 15 May 2014
Red Carnation Hotels Serve Floral Themed Afternoon Tea to Celebrate Chelsea Flower Show

The Red Carnation Hotel Collection

The Red Carnation Hotel Collection is celebrated for their traditional English afternoon teas, several of which are themed for special occasions. From May 19 to 25, 2014, three of Red Carnation's London properties are offering distinctive floral themed afternoon teas to coincide with the Chelsea Flower Show

The Egerton House Hotel, a five-star boutique hotel in the heart of Knightsbridge, offers guests three versions of the Floral Afternoon Tea: the original floral tea, a floral tea with Champagne and a gluten-free alternative. The aromatic tea is made from flower tea buds that stew in hot water for approximately one minute before bursting into bloom, resulting in a sensational cup of tea.

Floral afternoon teas include freshly cut sandwiches, homemade cakes with forget-me-not sugar flowers, and freshly baked plain and fruit scones served with clotted cream. Guests receive a special gift of forget-me-not flower seeds to plant at home as a lasting reminder of their visit. The teas start from $54.00 per person.

The Milestone Hotel, located opposite Kensington Palace, will serve an "Ode to a Flower" Afternoon Tea . The pastry chefs have worked tirelessly to combine the finest ingredients and botanical flavors, cumulating in a mouth-watering spread that includes rosewater macaroons and elderflower fancies. "Ode to a Flower" Afternoon Tea is priced at $62.00 per person.

Last year, The Rubens at the Palace in Victoria made botanical headlines with its Living Wall . Standing at nearly 1,150 square feet and with a total of 10,000 herbaceous plans, the exterior wall is quite a spectacle. Its plant list includes a wide variety of native species and those deemed by the Royal Horticultural Society as attracting insect pollinators; drawing bees, butterflies and birds. Visitors to the Chelsea Flower Show will want to see this stunning wall and can also sample the "Living Wall" Afternoon Tea. This flower-power afternoon tea is designed by Pastry Chef Danielle Maupertuis and will feature the hotel's home grown blooms and a selection of eclectic sandwiches including pulled pork, Parmesan and basil chicken and brie with truffle. The "Living Wall" Afternoon Tea is priced at $50.00 per person.
