Wildlife Coast Cruises have reported two record breaking days of Whale Watching at Wilsons Promontory - the first on Sunday 7th of October where they saw 18 whales in one day, only to break the record just a few days later on Tuesday 9th of October with an incredible 22 sightings. This brings their numbers close to 90 whale sightings at Wilsons Promontory this season!

Wilson Promontory is a magical place of pristine beaches, turquoise waters and abundant wildlife both on land and at sea, however it is only recently that visitors have been able to experience the wonder of 'The Prom' by sea. While many Melburnians will travel up the coast chasing whale sightings in NSW, it is a little-known fact that we can see the mighty Humpback Whale right here in our own backyard!

The Victorian whale watching tour industry is just starting to take off - thanks to the effort of the team at Wildlife Coast Cruises led by John Dickie. With over 40 years' experience exploring and operating in the rugged Bass Strait and local waters, John has focused the last 25 years on creating new and exciting scenic and wildlife cruises for the enjoyment of locals and visitors from all over the world.

After the Humpbacks travel north to give birth, nurse, mate and socialise. They soon make their return journey back to Antarctica, moving past Wilsons Promontory where they can be seen from September to November.

Since mid-September, Wildlife Coast Cruises have recorded an incredible 90 whale sightings aboard their Wilsons Promontory cruises - the majority have been Humpback Whales, with a number of elusive Southern Right Whales. Passengers have been lucky enough to see some spectacular breaching, close-up mugging and mothers with their calves.

Wilsons Prom Whale Cruises are scheduled four times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays & Sundays until mid-November, giving you the unique opportunity to view these majestic creatures and gain a new appreciation of the beauty of Wilsons Promontory.

Wilsons Prom Whale Cruises depart from the Port Welshpool Jetty – close to the spectacular Agnes Falls, the Great Southern Rail Trail, historic Port Albert fishing village and fresh fish stalls at Port Franklin.
