DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – (May 2, 2022) – Regional Dance America/Southeast (RDA/Southeast), one of five regional associations of RDA composed of pre-professional non-profit dance companies, troupes, ensembles and guilds in the Southeastern United States, will be coming to Daytona Beach for the first time by utilizing a trio of properties – the Ocean Center, Peabody Auditorium and the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort – for a three-day annual festival scheduled May 5-7.

Performances, which are open to RDA/Southeast staff, family and friends, will be held nightly at the Peabody Auditorium while the Ocean Center will be the location of classes and the Hilton will be utilized as a meetings site.

RDA/Southeast was the first Regional Association for dance established in the United States in 1956. Today, the organizations promote excellence in instruction, choreography, performance, and production while fostering a broad reaching network of dancers, choreographers, directors, vendors, recruiters, and scholarship donors.

The festival is expected to attract an estimated 700 attendees to the destination.

“Daytona Beach checks all the boxes in meeting the needs of groups such as RDA/Southeast,” said Lori Campbell Baker, Executive Director of the Daytona Beach Area Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB). “We're proud to see the destination continue to attract groups such as this and bring positive economic impact into the community. We hope all the attendees have a great experience visiting at our destination.”

“Our unique needs of a hotel, convention center and theatre within walking distance are difficult find,” said Denna Smith, Festival Chairman. “When our meeting planners presented Daytona Beach as an opportunity, we were excited to discover all three properties – the Hilton, Peabody Auditorium, and the Ocean Center – were located in close proximity to each other and quickly realized this was the perfect destination for our festival and guests.”

“Events like the RDA/Southeast Festival are a great example of the value of strong partnerships,” said Ocean Center Director Tim Riddle. “We always appreciate the opportunity to work collaboratively to meet a client's needs and bring new business to the area. We're excited to welcome the group to our facility and destination for what is sure to be a great event.”

Regional Dance America has already made plans on returning to Daytona Beach with the 2024 Regional Dance America National Festival on April 19-28, 2024.
