Ramblers Worldwide Holidays Contribution to Commonwealth Day

Ramblers Walking Holidays

9 March 2015 marks 'Commonwealth Day' which will be celebrated across the Commonwealth by young people, schools, communities and organisations.

The theme for 2015 is 'A Young Commonwealth' launched officially by Commonwealth Secretary General, Kamalesh Sharma – who said, “This recognises the contribution and potential of young people who play such a vital role at the heart of sustainable development and democracy.”

The Commonwealth now has 53 members spanning the globe.

One of the contributors to this cause is the Ramblers Worldwide Holidays' initiative Heart & Sole which is managed by office staff and supports a number of projects including these in Commonwealth counties:

The Breakfast Club – at the Monchy Primary School in St Lucia where in addition to contributing funds, clients can donate much needed educational equipment direct to the school during their holiday visit.

Donations to primary schools in South Africa and Rajasthan, India.

SOS Childrens' Village in Malawi.

YODEP – a community based youth organisation in Zomba, Malawi aimed at addressing socio-economic conditions encountered by young people affected by HIV/AIDS.

St Joseph's Hospital, Cape Town – providing holistic healthcare for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Commenting on Ramblers Worldwide Holidays' contribution, Helen Nelson, Product Manager and Co-ordinator for Heart & Sole said, “We are immensely proud to provide support these projects locally in Commonwealth countries and so particularly to be helping young people.”
