Whether you're a red wine connoisseur, looking to develop your palate, or just enjoy a good glass of red, the Tasmanian Red Wine Weekend on 24 and 25 May at Princes Wharf No 1 Hobart is the place to be.
Organised by Wine South as part of Savour Tasmania, the Red Wine Weekend sees vignerons and wine makers from across Tasmania come together to showcase their superb range of reds from a variety of vintages. Running from 12 until 5pm each day, and with more than 50 of the best Tasmanian wines on offer, this is your opportunity to meet, greet and chat with the heart of the Tasmanian wine industry, connect with fellow wine lovers from Tasmania and beyond and most importantly enjoy the wines.

Venue: Princes Wharf Shed No 1, Castray Esplanade, Hobart
Cost: $21.50 in advance, $16.50 if purchased with any special event or master class (see list below) or $25 at the door. Admission includes tastings of all wines, a souvenir Plumm wine glass etched with the WineSouth logo, complete tasting booklet and entry into the lucky door prize to win a mixed case of top Tasmanian wines.

Tasmanian Pinot Noir: Terroir in Focus with Nick Stock
Revisit the outstanding 2011 vintage with wines also previewed from the recent 2013 vintage. Award-winning Australian wine critic Nick Stock leads fellow pinot noir enthusiasts on a journey that delves deep into discovering the taste of great Tasmanian terroir.

The 'non Pinot' reds - our hidden gems?
Presented by Tim Goddard, wine judge, educator and owner of Cool Wine, and includes tastings of Tasmania's Cabernet and Shiraz and other varieties bench marked with some classic European counterparts. How do we stack up? 12 wines, 8 Tasmanian and 4 European all from excellent vintages

Wine INSIDERS
Take a seat and enjoy a small group guided tasting with Phil Laing and Mark Smith. Hear the 'inside stories', wine tastings and cheese plates included.

Good Wine made in the vineyard or the winery?
Join Tasmania's favourite local wine writer Graeme Phillips and two of Tasmanian's hottest young wine makers, Nick Glaetzer and Anna Pooley - both previous winners of the Australian Young Winemaker of the Year. Enjoy some fabulous Tasmanian wines and discussions of wine making vs vineyard when producing the best.

Gold Medal and Trophy Tasmanian Wine Tasting
Would you like to taste a selection of Tasmania's Gold Medal winning wines and meet the makers? Join this session hosted by internationally renowned journalist Winsor Dobbin for a relaxed and informative tasting including canapés. Hear from some of Tasmania's wine judges and be a judge yourself with a tasting of some top medal winning wines with some runners up.

The Plumm Wine Glass Experience
Get an insight into the unique and exhaustive testing process undertaken by Plumm to arrive at their decision to create just 5 kinds of glasses. You will learn how each glass interacts with the various styles of wine and how the size and shape of the glass is designed to enhance the characteristics and components of the wine style. Participants will sample some of Tassie's best in the glasses and will also get to keep their Plumm glasses used in the tasting, valued at $120. This is amazing value and a watershed experience!

Sparkling Secrets with Curly Haslam-Coates
How do red grapes make white sparkling? Why is rosé sparkling sometimes more expensive than the white sparkling? What on earth is Pinot Meunier? Why do you never see sparkling red outside of Australia? Join wine educator Curly Haslam-Coates to uncover some of the secrets behind using red grapes in sparkling wine.

How to become a wine snob in 40 minutes
Run by Gerald Ellis founder of Meadowbank Estate and Meadowbank Vineyard. This event will be a fun and informal introduction to wine and wine tasting for the novice, providing quirky insights into the mysteries of wine drinking and an opportunity to try some of Tasmania's best varietals.

Pig and Pinot Pop-Up Bar
Acclaimed local chef David Moyle and Pinot-obsessed wine critic Nick Stock team up on Sunday to bring tasty pork-driven sustenance and plenty of Tasmania's finest Pinot Noir to the Red Wine Weekend. Sunday 25th May just got better.
