ST MORITZ, SWITZERLAND– Percy Sledge performed a concert on February 17th as part of the event series In Concert@Badrutt’s Palace. The audience was captivated by his soulful voice, internationally renowned ballads and dazzling dance moves.

The event series In Concert@Badrutt’s Palace brings exclusive stars, such as Percy Sledge and Milan’s Teatro alla Scala, to the stage where luminaries such as Marlene Dietrich once performed.

A rhythm and blues legend and Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame inductee, Mr. Sledge is also the original crooner of the song “When a man loves a woman,” popularized by singer Michael Bolton in the 1990’s. His soulful voice propelled songs like “Love me tender” and “Take time to know her” to the top of international charts. Mr. Sledge shared with his audience that the origins of this last song came directly from a heartbreak story of his own.

The soul king performed an impromptu birthday serenade for one of Badrutt’s VIPs and surprised the audience with a duet of “Warm and tender love” with his wife, Rosie. It was a fitting end to a romantic Valentine’s week.

Badrutt’s Palace Hotel pulled all the stops to host Mr. Sledge, including a visit to the White Turf horse races in St. Moritz. The legendary artist was intrigued to have lunch at an unusual spot: on top of a frozen lake where fish swim under the surface. A far cry from his Alabama roots.
