The eyes of the golfing world will fall on Portugal's Quinta do Lago when the famous Algarve resort hosts the 2nd World Golf Awards for the second year in a row in November, and it is hoping to mark the occasion in style after being shortlisted for two top honours.
The luxury venue, among the world's premier contemporary golf destination resorts, played a key role in the successful launch of the awards last year, and industry leaders from around the world will again have the chance to enjoy its array of world-class facilities when the event returns from November 5-8.
After winning two leading accolades at the inaugural event, Quinta do Lago is in the running for further success in 2015 including being nominated for the title of 'Europe's Best Golf Venue'.
The resort is one of only nine venues to have been shortlisted for the prestigious prize while its acclaimed South Course is aiming to be named as 'Portugal's Best Golf Course for the second year running.
John Dwyer, chief executive at Quinta do Lago, said: “It was a great privilege for Quinta do Lago to play a leading role in the 1st World Golf Awards. The visibility it brought created a great buzz about the resort and its success helped cap a special year for us, which included the re-opening of our North Course.
“To be involved again is a great honour and a tremendous opportunity to showcase our five-star facilities to some of the biggest names in the golf industry.”
Voting for the awards closes on September 27 with fierce competition anticipated in a number of categories including Best Golf Destination, Best Golf Hotel, Best Golf Course, Best Golf Tour Operator and Best New Golf Course.
Quinta do Lago could have further to celebrate with Portugal also bidding to be voted 'Europe's Best Golf Destination', and all the winners will be crowned at a lavish gala ceremony at the Conrad Algarve on Saturday, November 7.
In addition to offering a weekend of unrivalled networking opportunities, the 2015 World Golf Awards is also giving guests the chance to enjoy Quinta do Lago's numerous five-star facilities including its three award-winning championship golf courses – the South Course, Laranjal, and new North Course, voted 'Europe's Best New Course' at the 2014 awards ceremony.
The resort's world-renowned layouts are matched by outstanding practice facilities, with a state-of-the-art TaylorMade Performance Centre – the only such facility in southern Europe – and new short game area available in addition to the Paul McGinley Academy.
Set among 2,000 acres of the picturesque Ria Formosa Natural Park, there's plenty to keep guests occupied away from the fairways at the resort, with events, tennis, cycling and watersports just some of the extensive leisure activities available.

Quinta do Lago has enjoyed the honour of hosting eight Portuguese Opens as well as numerous other international golf tournaments, and its world-class golf facilities include:
• Quinta do Lago North Course – Opening in October 2014, the totally revamped North Course has been redeveloped by renowned American golf architect Beau Well in close collaboration with 2014 European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley and is set to become one of the new stars of European golf. The new layout has been built to the highest specifications with a €9.6m investment programme and has been redeveloped with the emphasis firmly on precision and strategy.
• Quinta do Lago South Course – A favourite among European Tour professionals, the South Course calls for accurate drives and precise shots, but rewards players for their efforts with the stunning backdrop of the Ria Formosa Natural Park. Regularly included in Golf World magazine's 'Top 100 Golf Courses in Europe', the par-72 layout has hosted the Portuguese Open on no fewer than eight occasions.
• Laranjal – Designed in the grounds of an orange grove, the par-72 course was named as Portugal's Best Golf Course 2011 at the Portuguese Travel Awards, and poses serious tests for players of all abilities. Opened in 2008, Laranjal offers a pure golfing experience right next to the Quinta do Lago estate and features fairways sown with Bermuda grass, providing a challenging playing environment in a picture-perfect setting.
