Quinta Bonita, Algarve, Portugal Launches New Yoga And Pilates Breaks

Quinta Bonita

Perched high on the Matos Morenos hillside with panoramic Algarve ocean views, Quinta Bonita is a family-run luxury boutique hotel that offers the perfect secluded retreat for their new yoga and Pilates breaks.  Starting from 3 nights, the rejuvenating breaks include one 75 minute yoga or Pilates class a day. With 10,000 square metres of spectacular gardens, these sessions can be held either on the hotel's lovely flat lawn in the middle of the fruit trees, on the shaded side terrace, or in the covered barbecue area overlooking the Italian garden. Individual press trips available.

To complement this healthy break, guests will enjoy a daily healthy breakfast using local and organic ingredients, much of which is home-grown, as well as an in depth nutritional advice session at the first breakfast.

During the rest of the stay, owners Chantelle and Fraser have compiled their own selection of walking notes for beautiful local walks in the countryside, cliff-side and beach side. Bicycles are also available to hire to explore further afield and healthy picnic hampers can be provided. For those looking for a little more adventure, additional activities such as horse-riding, surfing and boat trips can be arranged on request. The 3 night stay also includes a 60 minute Full Body In Room Massage for ultimate relaxation. In room facials, pedicures and manicure sessions are also available.

Quinta Bonita's yoga teacher is Ann De Jongh.  Ann has been practicing yoga for many years and has been a personal trainer and sports massage therapist since 2004. She learnt to be a yoga teacher in India with the Ashtanga Vinyasa Teacher Training in 2011 and has been teaching classes ever since.  Since her initial teacher training she has been back to India to continue her yoga learnings, and has also continued her teacher training by completing a Yin Teacher Training course.

The style of yoga she teaches follows the Ashtanga Vinyasa style, but with an approach that allows students to explore the poses a bit longer, and incorporate poses that help to counter common postural faults.  The yin classes are designed to allow students to be able to allow a gentle opening of joints and connective tissue, and a stillness and relaxation of the mind.

Quinta Bonita's Pilates teacher is Lisa Longhurst.  Lisa started practicing Pilates in 2001 whilst working and living in Santa Barbara, California, USA.  She continued her training with Body Arts and Science International (BASI) with Amit Younger at the Royal Academy of Dance, London in 2005. Lisa set up “The Pilates Room Lagos” which offers mat-work in addition to equipment classes adapted to all levels and age groups. Private mat classes can be accommodated at Quinta Bonita or equipment classes in her studio in Lagos.

The Quinta has a choice of 8 spacious suites, each individually designed and beautifully decorated with designer fabrics, in which to unwind. Every room boasts its own private terrace or balcony and is fully equipped with 100% Egyptian cotton linen, mini-bar, air-conditioning, flat screen TV, bathrobes and organic toiletries.

A 3 night package costs from £320 per person based on two people sharing and includes breakfast, 1 x 75 minute yoga or Pilates session per day, 1 x in depth nutrition session, 1 x full body deep relation massage. Bespoke packages are also available on request.
