Queensland's newest culinary tourism destination product, Winterfeast, will officially launch in Brisbane on Monday 4th July.
The new brand for the Bundaberg Region will be a celebration of authentic farm gate to plate dishes from Australia's food bowl. Unique to the Bundaberg region, Winterfeast will aim to position the Bundaberg region as Queensland's only authentic farmer to plate event. Locals have long known that Bundaberg can boast amazing produce and authenticity from paddock to plate, and are ready to share these culinary delights with the world.
Co-founder of the Farmers Markets at the Kendall Flats in 2015 and founder and restauranteur of Indulge Café & Bistro, Amanda Hinds has long been wanting locals and the greater region to utilise these home grown farmers' beautiful produce. Amanda added “I'm passionate about locals and farmers working together in the region and am very excited for Winterfeast to further bridge that gap and put our raw and prolific region on the map as the most authentic farm gate to plate event you can attend in Queensland”.
Some of Australia's most passionate foodies, iconic cafes and famous food brands call Bundaberg their home, including Bundaberg Sugar, Bundaberg Brewed Drinks, Indulge Café, Grunskes Seafood and Bundaberg Rum. These products, brands and people make the Bundaberg region a smorgasbord to cook with and entertain!
With over 20 event partners involved with Winterfeast this year, there will be something for every palette. Encompassing the Bundaberg and North Burnett region, the new culinary brand has the opportunity to become Queensland's flagship authentic farm gate to plate event for the state.
“Bundaberg is in such an enviable position, with abundant seafood coming to shore from our Southern Great Barrier Reef waters to juicy berries grown in the rich red soil. Winterfeast will showcase our fresh produce and our culinary experience heroes, at a time when the Bundaberg North Burnett regions are ripe for the picking”, said General Manager of Bundaberg North Burnett Tourism, Katherine Mergard.
Whilst aiming to position the Bundaberg region as Queensland's flagship culinary tourism destination product, Winterfeast will drive visitation to the region over the cooler part of the year giving a boost to the regional economy outside of the busy turtle season and Summer months.
Kicking off in Brisbane on Monday 4th July, Winterfeast will be boasting a range of events in the Bundaberg and North Burnett regions from Friday 8th July until Sunday 17th July.
