QT Sydney Teams with Sydney Contemporary to Showcase Local Artists

QT Hotels & Resorts

QT Sydney is thrilled to announce its partnership with Australia's leading international art fair, Sydney Contemporary, as the official hotel partner and nightly after-Fair venue. In a bid to discover and support Australia's most exciting talent, the city's newest art-focused hotel, will also play host to a specially curated exhibition in Parlour Lane Roasters.

"Each piece of art was specifically selected to be in keeping with the nature of the displays. Work that has both initial impact and subtlety upon inspection," said CEO and Group Fairs Director of Art Fairs Australia, Barry Keldoulis, who curated the display.

Housed within the original 1920's display cabinets in Parlour Lane on the ground floor of QT Sydney, the works on display offer a "Director's Choice", with a selection of cutting edge Australian artists to draw the eye of art-lovers and passers-by alike.

The vibrant works of renowned photographic self-portrait and video artist Liam Benson greet guests at the entrance to Parlour Lane, followed by Daniel Adgag's intricate cardboard sculpture The Approach. A Kangaroo fur Victorian ball gown by Sydney-based materialist Joan Ross takes center stage of the exhibition, whilst Adelaide artist Sarah Field's sculptures of human hair, resin and found objects create a cabinet of curiosities. Kathy Temin finishes the exhibition with her seductive fur sculptures in Small Black Garden, 2010.

The exhibition will add to QT Sydney's already considered portfolio of artworks by well-regarded Australian and New Zealand based artists, including; Daniel Crooks, Daniel Boyd and Grant Stevens. Curated by art expert Amanda Love, the existing works use varied mediums in and around QT's public spaces, guest rooms and the hotel's bar, Gilt Lounge, providing a visual feast of light and movement.

The exhibition in Parlour Lane is on display from 15th September 2013 until December, when the works will be replaced by the winners of the QT Sydney and Sydney Contemporary Parlour Lane Creative Initiative - a rare opportunity for the works of undiscovered and emerging talent to be viewed by hundreds of guests passing through QT Sydney, art and design lovers, active buyers and design enthusiasts.
