Two of the world's greatest brands team up for movie premiere in the sky

Qantas and Disney have announced a movie premiere to be held at 30 000ft on 7 September 2013. Disney's 'Planes', the latest family movie from Disney Studios will take-off on a Qantas Boeing 767 aircraft providing 254 passengers from across Australia with a once in a lifetime experience.

"Disney's 'Planes'," an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure tells the story of Dusty, a crop duster with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. The story also features Rochelle, a confident and capable Australian plane with a kangaroo painted on her side, who got her start running mail to small towns in Tasmania and developed a knack for fast travel that ultimately inspired her to give air racing a try. Joining the cast will be Australia's very own Jessica Marais as Rochelle, in a localised version of the feature for Australia and New Zealand.

Qantas will be painting one of its aircraft with 'Planes' livery as part of its support for the film and will host the premiere on this aircraft in September.

"This unique premiere combines storytelling with fun, innovation and a once in a lifetime experience that reflects the core essence of Disney," said John Cracknell, Managing Director, The Walt Disney Company in Australia.

"Disney and Qantas share a long term bond with Australian families and a passion for innovation and excellence. We are thrilled to have Qantas as our official co-pilot for 'Planes' in Australia and for the best family entertainment in the skies."

Olivia Wirth, Group Executive Brand, Marketing and Corporate Affairs said Qantas was pleased to partner with Disney on the new film.

"Qantas is excited to be hosting a movie premiere in the sky.

"We're thrilled to have an Australian plane in this Disney movie, who will definitely appeal to our young passengers. We'll be working with Disney on lots of activities around the film," she added.

Kids from around Australia will have the opportunity to win a seat on the plane by entering a competition which will be run by The Today Show on Channel 9 and via Qantas social media channels. Qantas celebrates 93 years of flying this year and The Walt Disney Company enters its 90th year in October. "Great brands stand the test of time. Qantas and Disney have been serving Australians for many years and are synonymous with best in product, service excellence and innovation," said Mr. Cracknell.
