Great and gruesome fun in Europa-Park: From 28 September to 3 November, everything at Germany's biggest theme park will once again revolve around Halloween. Thousands of pumpkins, apples, corn plants, chrysanthemums and bales of straw will turn Europa-Park into a fascinating autumn landscape in which there are many creepy beings. The show programme, parade, food, hotels and attractions are also geared towards the scary time of year. The "Horror Nights", held from 24 September, also provide hardened gore fans with an unforgettable Halloween experience.
Germany's largest theme park has been celebrating Halloween for more than ten years: A glowing orange rug made from more than 160,000 differently shaped pumpkins will cover the park landscape. In addition, 15,000 chrysanthemums, 3,000 bales of straw, 6,000 corn plants, spider trees and ghostly illuminations will ensure a spooky autumn atmosphere from 28 September to 3 November. In the Enchanted Forest, hundreds of pumpkin imps will be waiting to be discovered by visitors. The Colonial House will also be surrounded by enchanted pumpkin figures. Again this year, for the third time, there will be a gigantic artwork made of apples: more than 20,000 red and green apples will create a huge fruit puzzle measuring 80 square metres.
Halloween Specials
The most elaborate display of Halloween decorations in Germany sets the perfect scene for autumn show highlights. Little ones can have their first eerie experience at the Euromouse Halloween show. Monsters, zombies and all sorts of creatures of the night will send a chill up the spine of the Happy Halloween Parade audience.
The biggest pumpkin in the world will invite brave visitors to take a ride on the Pumpkin Coaster at breakneck speeds. Right next door, visitors can immerse themselves in the 4D film "The Secret of Castle Balthasar" with Euromouse and his friends at the Magic Cinema or the "Haunted House." With sparkles, scary music and mist, the coffee cups in the Dutch area are transformed into "Griezelkopjes". "The Flying Dutchman" and the "Feria Swing" offer a totally new riding experience - namely backwards! Autumn culinary delights are also available at Europa-Park and in the hotels. As days turns into night, everything continues to revolve around Halloween for the many visitors: All guests who have booked the specially decorated Halloween rooms at the 4-star Superior Hotel "Colosseo" may also need some pretty steady nerves if they actually want to get any sleep. Delicious specialities await the visitors in the rollercoaster restaurant, FoodLoop, and in many snack bars amongst other places; the food on offer ranges from made-to-order Halloween pizzas to pumpkin soups to fresh Halloween baking.
"Horror Nights"
At the horror shocker "Horror Nights", terror takes on a new dimension. From 27 September to 2 November, every Friday and Saturday, as well as on 2, 3 and 20 October and every day during the Halloween Festival Week from 26 October to 3 November, snarling zombies will fumble their way through the darkness at the evening event. Fearless visitors can dive into their own horror film, where monsters and demons are lurking. There are a limited number of tickets available for the pre-premiere on 24 September. "The Villa"
In 2013, the large house of horrors will welcome Europa-Park visitors for the second time. "The Villa" holds a dark secret: during the day, live actors ensure that park visitors get goose bumps in this Victorian establishment while nighttime visitors are subjected to a more shocking version for bloodcurdling horror at the "Horror Nights".
Halloween Festival "Mysteria"
Halloween Week from 26 October to 3 November forms the spooky end to Halloween in Germany's biggest theme park. Goblins will zip through the eerie park landscape and, every evening, a horror parade of ghosts will slowly make its way through the twilight. Visitors can be mesmerised by the scarily beautiful show spectacle, the fascinating laser show and the 3D projects. The "Historical Balthasar castle grounds" meanwhile changes into a creepy Middle Ages village. Ancient craftsmanship and cheerful hustle and bustle in the bathhouse allows visitors to relive the Middle Ages. During Halloween Festival Week, Europa-Park offers its guests a special evening ticket at a reduced price. Adult entrance costs 18 euros, concessions are 15 euros.
SWR3 Halloween Party
SWR3 is celebrating Germany's largest Halloween party, featuring a large costume contest and fireworks on 31 October in Europa-Park. Lou Bega and the band Camouflage will create a party atmosphere. DJs from SWR3 will fire up horror fans who want to dance whilst high-speed fans will be able to have another ride on the rollercoasters that are open extra long hours.
