The U.S. Postal Service New 2012 Stamp

With this Arizona Statehood (Forever®) stamp, the U.S. Postal Service commemorates the 100th anniversary of one of America's last frontiers. Arizona became the 48th state in the Union on February 14, 1912. The Grand Canyon State is home to 21 Native American tribes with ancient connections to a land known for its stunning beauty and abundant natural resources. Sedona celebrates it's most famous and breathtaking red rock formation Cathedral Rock as the stamps illustration.

Pedal America TV Premiere

PBS is airing the first Pedal America series on Cycling in the United States that was filmed in Sedona in the fall of 2011. Sedona will be #6 in a series of seven episodes. Pedal America is scheduled to begin on Saturday, May 5, 2012.

Freenotes Donates Percussion Instruments  

 

Freenotes Harmony Park, the world leader in outdoor music instruments, brings harmony to the city of Sedona, Arizona with the donation of an ensemble of seven large percussion instruments. Sedona's Celebration of the Arts- May 4-6 

 

Hop on the trolley for the Sedona Gallery Association's First Friday Gallery Art Walk 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Saturday's Great Sedona Chili Cook-off hosted by Rotary Club of Sedona and Tlaquepaque's Cinco de Mayo Celebration is fun for the whole family. Take the Sedona Visual Artists Coalition Open Studio Tour to see artists at work in their environment. Join the excitement of Sedona Arts Center's Charity Fine Art Auction or Verde Valley Sanctuary's Dancing in the Moonlight fundraiser to round out a fun-filled weekend.     

 

Zaki Gordon Institute Shorts Film Festival May 25- 27

The Zaki Gordon Institute for Independent Film Making (ZGI) hosts a film festival every year on Memorial Day weekend. All graduates of ZGI get to screen their films at our annual ZGI Shorts Film Festival and the audience gets to vote! Enjoy two full days of independent short films, a special feature presentation and the Career and Gear Fair on Friday night. You may be inspired to make your own film. Sedona Bluegrass Festival is Sunday- June 3

The 6th Annual Sedona Bluegrass Festival is Sunday, June 3 and takes place a Los Abrigados Resort in Sedona along Oak Creek in the shade of the Oaks and Cottonwoods - an idyllic setting. Artists include Grammy award winning guitarists Tim O'Brien and Bryan Sutton (from the band HotRize), the Arizona debut of The Sleepy Man Banjo Boys (three brothers ages 9, 11 and 13) and from Tucson the 2011 Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band Contest winners Run Boy Run, and from Flagstaff Muskellunge Bluegrass.
