Journey Latin America

Specialist tour operator Journey Latin America can help those inspired by HRH Prince Harry's upcoming Caribbean tour to experience the wonders of Guyana for themselves. The Prince will arrive in Georgetown, the country's capital, on 2 December 2016 and visit highlights such as Kaieteur Falls, Iwokrama International Centre and Surama Eco Lodge before departing on 4 December 2017.

Journey Latin America's 15-day Guyana Wildlife: South America's wild frontier holiday, like the Guyanese leg of the Prince's tour, begins in Georgetown and travels by light aircraft to the magnificent Kaieteur Falls, one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world. Three days are spent in the verdant forest of the Iwokrama International Centre where guests have the opportunity to explore this protected wilderness reserve and learn about the conservation efforts being undertaken here. The holiday also takes guests to visit the village of Surama where they will meet members of the same Amerindian community that will welcome Prince Harry. The holiday costs £3,995 per person and includes domestic flights, basic accommodation, transfers, excursions, breakfast daily, lunch on two days and full board on days 3-12. International flights are extra.

Journey Latin America also offers an 18-day Coq of the rock: Trailblazing the Guianas escorted group tour which ventures to the highlights of Venezuela, Suriname, Guyana and French Guiana. Starting in Venezuela it then visits Georgetown in Guyana with an optional flight to Kaieteur Falls before continuing on through Suriname and French Guiana. The holiday costs £4,538 per person and includes domestic flights, basic accommodation, transfers, most excursions, breakfast daily, one lunch and five days full-board. International flights are extra.

Product Manager for Guyana, Isabelle Mazille, comments “Guyana still feels like an unexplored land – it is one of South America's best-kept secrets and a truly off-the-beaten-track destination. The only officially English-speaking country in South America and cricket-mad, Guyana shares more similarities with the Caribbean than with its land-border neighbours. The main draw is the pristine Amazon rainforest that covers over 80% of the country as well as the deserted walking trails which offer incredible opportunities to spot endemic flora and fauna.”
