The story:

On December 17th, the Parisian government will be voting on a law that severely restricts visitors from renting properties for less than a year. For many, this means that the chance to live like a local and enjoy a holiday rental in France's capital may soon no longer be an option. But, it doesn't just affect casual visitors. Business people on extended stays, family members visiting relations and those looking for extended periods to immerse themselves in French culture will all be driven to Paris' high-priced, often-full hotel industry.

The sharing economy has grown at a rapid rate and is now an incredibly popular sector of the travel industry. As we have seen in New York, governments that try and prevent or ban the sharing economy from flourishing simply drive the market underground. HouseTrip believes that this underground economy would also result in Paris exposing consumers to unsafe, unsecure properties and booking methods.

We feel that the opportunity to live like a local is a valuable one - and we would like to invite you to Paris from 6-8 December for a chance to experience a holiday rental yourself. We want the Paris government (and your readers) to know that this law is being considered and the effect that it will have on tourism decisions for potential visitors in the future.

Join HouseTrip to 'live like a local' in the run up to the Christmas holidays. We will enjoy market shopping, fine dining and secret local finds in neighbourhoods across the city. The only catch is that we really want to share your experiences with Parisian politicians before they take their law to the vote on the 17th of December. Therefore, all articles must be published no later than 15 December 2013. 

The itinerary:

Transport will be arranged for arrival on Friday 6th December and departure back home on Sunday 8th December. The itinerary will include recommendations from Parisian HouseTrip Hosts for local restaurants and nightlife. As well as, a secret finds tour of your neighbourhood (either Marais, Montparnasse or Montmartre depending on where we book you) and plenty of time to Christmas shop and enjoy the city.
