Press Trip Invite: Alpine Adventure in the Engadine

Grand Hotel Kronenhof

PRESS TRIP INVITE: Alpine adventure in the Engadine – rock climbing, glaciology & a sunrise bike ride, with massage & live music for evening relaxation.

St Moritz and the Engadine Valley are renowned for their exhilarating winter activities, such as the Cresta Run, the Olympic Bob Sleigh and the many events that take place on frozen Lake St Moritz, such as White Turf and the Snow Polo World Cup, but the region is equally exciting as a summer destination and this press trip aims to provide a small snapshot of what is on offer.

One day we will be learning how to rock climb as we plot our route up to the stunning Morteratsch Glacier, the largest in the Bernina Range, where we will be taught how to use climbing irons, as well as an ice pick and rope, to cross the frozen landscape, while our guides provide lots of interesting facts and figures on glaciology. Another day we will be taking the 4am lift up to 3000 metres to Piz Nair to witness the first rays of sunlight emerge behind the Alps, before mountain biking down in time for breakfast.

In the evenings, there will be plenty of time to enjoy the annual Festival da Jazz –a little Billie Holliday tribute or Earth, Wind & Fire perhaps? – and relax in the hotel's award-winning 2000 square metre spa.

We will be staying at the luxurious five-star Grand Hotel Kronenhof (www.kronenhof.com), sister property of the legendary Kulm Hotel St Moritz, in Pontresina. The trip leaves London on the morning of Friday 29th July, returning on the afternoon of Monday 1st August. Inexperienced Alpine adventurers, as well as intermediates are welcome, as we will be taught the full set of skills required to complete all the activities.

If you would like to join the trip, please get in touch by Friday 8th July with details of your commission.
