Press Trip: Garmin Ecoroute Satelite Navigation System To Be Used For Eco-Friendly Press Trips

Kansas & Oklahoma Travel, Tourism and Recreation

The headquarters of Garmin, the global leader in satellite navigation, is based in Olathe in the Kansas City metro area. They have recently introduced ecoRoute, a free software update that helps drivers conserve money and fuel, easing growing pressures on personal budgets and the environment. In addition to faster time and shorter distance for route preference, ecoRoute lets users choose less fuel as the best way to save gas and money.

Garmin is a Kansas product and we will include a pre-programmed Garmin GPS for the driving instructions for every fly/drive press trip that we host in 2009. Kansas and Oklahoma Tourism are looking to host qualified journalists and travel writers who have a firm commission or are able to secure publication in national press or leading magazines. The press trip will be fully hosted including flights, accommodation and car rental.

Below is a list of suggestions for story ideas and we can provide further detailed information together with suggested travel itineraries on request:

In Kansas and Oklahoma you can take a trip back in time, where time-honoured traditions, cultural experiences and artistic expressions are components of everyday life. You can explore a past that spans American Indians, oil and cattle barons, cowboys and pioneers - all in a setting that remains remarkably pure and unspoiled. Take part in a traditional Pow Wow and feel the rhythmic dance music of the ancient Native American Indian tribes, experience frontier life firsthand, take part in Native American traditions and witness cowboy culture at its purest.

Other highlights include the National Cowboy Heritage Museum and Bricktown in Oklahoma City; Tulsas exquisite Art Deco architecture and her nationally recognized Gilcrease and Philbrook Museums; the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Centre; the overwhelming beauty of the Flint Hills; the western movie-set like charm of Cottonwood Falls; the significant ecosystem of the Tallgrass Prairie; the historic town of Manhattan; the New Underground Salt Museum in Hutchinson: and the rich culture of Wichita, Kansas largest city, where you will enjoy nightlife, Old Cowtown Museum, and the Discover Historic Wichita Trolley Tour.

Economy class flights from the UK, car hire, fuel costs, accommodation, most meals and a detailed itinerary will be provided for qualified journalists with a firm commission.
