This autumn Visit County Durham is inviting selected journalists to visit and literally taste Durham.
With its medieval city, breath-taking countryside, dramatic coast, award-winning attractions and UNESCO World Heritage Site, Durham is a very popular short break destination. And this October sees a month-long celebration of Durham produce, showcased by some of the county's finest eateries in some very special dishes, making dining out in Durham even more of a treat.
Throughout Taste Durham Month, eateries, attractions, hotels and B&Bs from across the county will be highlighting a unique Durham-inspired dish or drink to tempt visitors and residents taste buds. Dishes include the Teesdale Lead Miners Pasty, a Durham take on the Full English Breakfast and also make the most of local ingredients such as lamb, handmade cheeses, artisan bread, locally farmed pork and beef, and home-grown fruit and vegetables as well as local ale and gin.
