The Sagres Birdwatching Festival 2014

Between September and November the area of Sagres becomes the country's major stopover point for migratory birds, where it is possible to observe almost all of the migratory species that occur regularly in Portugal, as well as some rarities. In total, 386 species have been observed – a number that increases every year. The wide variety of landscapes in the region together with its geographical situation, particularly its proximity to North Africa, are among the factors that explain this great ornithological wealth as well as some of its peculiarities.

This exciting programme which takes place during the Festivals 5th Edition and includes flights, accommodation and a chance to savour the varied Algarvian cuisine along with:

  • Birdwatching sunset tour in Sagres area
  • A visit to Baleeira Harbour and boat tour
  • Bird watching tour to Vale Santo Cabranosa
  • Seabird watching at Cabo de São Vicente and ringing activity
  • Visit to Castro Marim Natural reserve and birdwatching at Castro Wetlands
  • Visit to Bird Festival headquarters and Festival dinner
