Appointed President and Managing Director for Lajitas, The Ultimate Hideout in September 2002, Daniel Hostettler brings an impeccable fourteen-year background in five-star resort operations to this south Texas enclave. One of Hostettler's greatest strengths is his expertise in the planning, pre-opening and restoring of resorts. For this reason, he was chosen by Stephen Smith to oversee the planning and opening of Lajitas, The Ultimate Hideout�Texas�s first luxury destination resort and private club.

A Swiss national, fluent in three languages, Daniel A. Hostettler has brought extensive operational experience to his position at Lajitas. Mr. Hostettler�s appointment was preceded by a one and one-half year stint at La Posada de Santa Fe, a Leading Hotel of the World, and two-years as General Manager of Summer Lodge Hotel, a member of the prestigious Relais et Chateaux collection of world-class, privately-owned, hotels and resorts, in Dorset, England. At the end of 1999 the hotel was awarded the newly created RAC Gold Ribbon Award, presented to the top 30 hotels in the British Isles, of the over five hundred hotel members nationwide.

A graduate of both the Hotel/Restaurant Management School and the Business School of the University of Denver, his first hotel position was with the Westin Century Plaza Hotel and Towers in Los Angeles, California, where he served as Corporate Management Trainee, encompassing a thorough practical training in all areas of hotel keeping.

In 1990, Mr. Hostettler joined the pre-opening team of the Peninsula Beverley Hills as the Assistant Executive Housekeeper, responsible for the final construction hand-over of the hotel. He later held various management positions within the food and beverage division of the hotel, including manager of The Belvedere, the Peninsula�s fine dining room.

In 1995, Mr. Hostettler was asked to join Meadowood Resort in the Napa Valley, also a member of the Relais and Chateaux Association, as Director of Catering and Conference services. In 1996 he was appointed Director of Food and Beverage operations at Meadowood and its sister-hotel, The Inn at Southbridge, overseeing all aspects of the resorts� culinary operations, including catering and conference services, the resorts� five dining outlets and all kitchen operations property wide. In 1998, he was given the additional responsibility of Assistant Managing Director, overseeing resort-wide operations.

As President and Managing Director of Lajitas, The Ultimate Hideout, Mr. Hostettler oversees both daily operations, as well as the long-term planning for the club, resort, and real estate divisions. With his unique combination of operational and marketing experience and five-star service knowledge, Hostettler brings a sophisticated management style and long-term vision to Lajitas.
