Home of Angkor Wat, the capital of Cambodia's multicultural restaurant industry, Siem Reap, has quality food from around the world on its daily menu.
A new, home grown restaurant, Por Cuisine, is not only among the leaders in quality eateries serving traditional Khmer and French fare, it also features a mesmerising Apsara Dance Show every evening in a tropical fresh air garden setting.
Apsara, more than two centuries old and once confined to the King's court, presents themes and stories inspired primarily by the Reamker (the Cambodian version of the Indian classic, the Ramayana) and by the Age of Angkor.
Settle into this Manhattan-style restaurant and select either an a la carte or Khmer fusion meal costing between US$8 to $16 and enjoy a captivating hour-long historical show daily from 7.30pm until 8.30pm.
A two-minute Rumork (Khmer Tuk Tuk) ride from old market and Pub Street, Por Cuisine is popular with locals and international visitors. It is a rice to riches story for owner Por, whose name proudly hangs on the shingle.
In 1983 Por had a vision of owning a fine dining restaurant. He started by opening a humble kiosk serving his traditional noodle creations to the people of Siem Reap. His simple dish became an essential part of the community diet, a taste that made his family well known and celebrated. Now 30-years later, the dream and the flavours have come to life. The family tradition continues but with a state of the art modern classic restaurant design and an exciting array of enticing flavours from both East and West.
“Quality food, top service, cleanliness, entertainment and social responsibility are our top priorities,” said sales manager, Baty Sokphirun.
The modern fully equipped and functional kitchen is overseen by some of the young guns of the Cambodian culinary scene. It features all day dining and includes, as well as the choices on the set menu, buffets, cocktail parties, gala dinners and dinner themes. Por Cuisine seats 160 people and 300 for a stand up finger food reception.
Por Cuisine opened earlier this year and has already gained a 48 rating from 422 restaurants rated in Siem Reap according to Trip Advisor.
Por Cuisine is now a sophisticated addition to the popular Siem Reap restaurant scene.
