The Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta will be home to the world debut of the most comprehensive and innovative out-of-water shark exhibition to tour the world. Planet Shark: Predator or Prey, commences on 3rd October and will run for a limited time at the Atlanta Aquarium. The interactive exhibition, of over 10,000-square-foot, will explore some of the unique relationships humans have forged with one of the worlds most feared predators. The exhibition will include lectures from world-renowned shark experts, shark-themed film festivals, as well as other interactive opportunities. Authentic artifacts from the movie Jaws as well as an extensive collection of real teeth, fossils, and shark jaws, dating back 350 million years will be on show. Shark cages and stories on human/shark encounters as told by survivors and shark experts will be displayed as well as an examination of shark size, biology, hunting strategies and sensory systems. Full-scale shark models cast from real specimens, including an 18-foot Great White shark caught in South Australian waters will be on view.
The Georgia Aquarium is excited to host the world premiere of this ground-breaking stand alone exhibition that celebrates one of the oceans most feared, intriguing and complex creatures, said Anthony Godfrey, President and Chief Operating Officer of Georgia Aquarium. Planet Shark will not only complement our current collection of live sharks, but will also provide our guests with a unique educational perspective on an animal which has reigned over the ocean for more than 450 million years.
The exhibition has been created through a new partnership between the Georgia Aquarium and Grande Exhibitions, an Australian-based producer of museum-quality exhibitions
