Plane/Train Ticket For Brisbane Terminal Transfers

Airtrain

BRISBANE, 18 June 2002 Airtrain and Qantas today launched Australias first combined airline boarding pass and train ticket, providing an easy and cash-free way for inbound and outbound international passengers to transfer between the international and domestic terminals. Qantas passengers will be able to use their boarding pass as a train ticket by simply swiping it through a boarding pass reader at the Airtrain station.

Airtrain Operations Manager Martin Earp said the new system was designed to add convenience to what is already the most reliable way to transfer between the two terminals.

Airtrain and Qantas have developed this program so that all passengers need to do is follow the signs to the train station located directly outside the terminal, swipe their boarding pass and ride in comfort and style while their luggage is automatically transferred to their next flight, Mr Earp said.

Qantas Acting Regional General Manager Queensland Peter Johansen said the airline was always looking at ways it could deliver a seamless product for passengers.

This terminal transfer initiative will make a real difference for our passengers, Mr Johansen said.

It will make a small part of what might be a long trip into or out of Australia that little bit easier.

Mr Earp said that as part of Airtrains commitment to service excellence, passengers can, if requested, be met by an Airtrain customer service office on arrival at Brisbane Airport.

They should look for the Airtrain Information Booth located in the Qantas baggage pick-up area of Brisbane Airports Domestic Terminal or visit the Travellers Information Desk located in the Arrival Hall at the International Terminal for additional assistance, he said.

Airtrain's combination of frequency (up to four trains an hour), reliability (over 99% on-time running) and cost effectiveness (city $9 single / $22 group of four, Gold Coast $28 single / $80 group of four) makes it the best choice when travelling between the airport terminals or into Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
